Bangor’s School of Psychology was established in 1963 and now has one of the largest student cohorts in the UK. It is currently ranked in the top 20 in the UK (2014 REF) and in the top 200 departments worldwide (QS World University Ranking 2016). Bangor University (BU) was established in 1884, and is one of four major Universities in Wales with approximately 11,000 registered students.
